Luis Enrique Patterson Arboin is a fencer originally from Cuba, now living in Port Moody, BC and representing Team Jamaica. At 8 years old, Luis fell in love with the sport of fencing, and by 16, he became the youngest member of Cuba’s National Team. He clinched the top spot at the El Salvador Junior World Cup for Men’s Epée in 2015. Luis led his team to victory at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima and Toronto, showcasing his exceptional talent and leadership skills, all while keeping his eyes on Olympic qualification. Now, not only does he coach professionally in Vancouver, but he also competes for Jamaica in Men’s Epée, having obtained citizenship through his mother’s heritage. Luis attributes his personal growth to fencing and continues to chase greatness in the sport he loves.
